Say Goodbye To iGoogle

iGoogle which has been one of the well-known web portals having information related with every possible thing on the web has finally decided to call off. The company announced this on the official page of the website.

According to Google the growth of the internet happened too fast which was unexpected but happened and iGoogle as it had its work facilitated users for a better web experience. Among various of the other web portals iGoogle allowed the users to :

  • Easy customize and add widgets
  • Get various information

And much more with a clean interactive user interface. The company said that they have made November 2013(16 months from now) as the date when the portal will go inactive and till then the users have to transfer their data from the portal to other services, almost every provided by Google.

iGoogle will be retired in 16 months, on November 1, 2013. The mobile version will be retired on July 31, 2012.

The mobile version of the service has already been discontinued(since July 2012).Google even posted a detailed explanation on their Support page  explaining how to transfer and why the service is retiring.

Also the page states how the users would be able to use various of the other services which are similar to the iGoogle based site.

    Its very sad that to know that Google is discontinuing igoogle. Which was very helpful and easy to customise.

      I guess Google is more focused into other forms of portals like Google play or the one we see on Android home screen, so I guess it discontinued this service. But I agree this was a good one !
